AB - This research investigated the existing conditions and functionality of rows of maple trees (Acer L.) (which are traditionally used in our country for urban greening) in the streets that are the most frequent in terms of traffic intensity, ways of use and measures to maintain greenery (streets of the I and II order) on the territory of the municipality of Stari grad (Belgrade). In the investigated area a total of 39 streets of these categories were surveyed. Rows of maple trees are represented in 2 out of 15 streets of the I order and in 10 out of 24 streets of the II order. It was determined that the total number of trees belonging to the species of this genus is 735. Maple species recorded are: Acer pseudoplatanus L, Acer platanoides L, Acer campestre L. and Acer saccharinum L. The most represented species here is A. pseudoplatanus with a total of 442 (60.13%) trees, and an average vitality score of 3.6. They are followed by: A. platanoides with 213 (28.98%) recorded trees and an average vitality score of 3.5, A. campestre with 72 (9.80%) recorded trees and a rating of 3.1 and A. saccharinum with 8 (1.09%) trees and a rating of 2.3. One of the main factors in reducing the functionality of maple tree street rows in the study area was the application of the tree topping care measure.

AB - Istraživanja obuhvataju uporednu analizu structure i florističkog sastava različitih tipova travnjaka duž saobraćajnica Beograda (travne površine kružnih tokova, razdelnih traka, površina u neposrednoj blizini saobraćajnica i travne površine saobraćajnica prvog reda).
AB - The research includes a comparative analysis of the structure and floristic composition of different types of lawns along Belgrade roads (grass areas of roundabouts, dividing strips, areas near roads and grass areas of first order roads), their floristic composition, as well as determining changes over a period of 17 years. The analyses are based on the results of floristic research from 2002, as well as the results of field research conducted during 2019. A total of 114 plant species were recorded on the studied lawns along Belgrade roads, among which the highest proportion belongs to the category of weed species. The taxonomic analysis has shown a reduction in the recorded number of families and genera over the study period of 17 years Both studies indicate the absolute dominance of plants from the group of hemicryptophytes. The results of the research are used to provide guidelines and recommendations for improving the condition and structure of lawns along Belgrade roads. Also, they provide the basis for the future selection of adequate types of grass for the establishment of new lawns, as well as the repair of the existing ones, i.e. for the sustainable management of green spaces along city roads.

AB - One of the largest and permanent sources of various types of urban city environment pollution is road traffic. From the aspect of the city's climate, large asphalt surfaces (occupied by city roads) have an effect on urban area overheating, increasing thermal islands effect in the city and reducing the air humidity in the immediate environment. By establishing roadside green spaces, the negative microclimate consequences. that traffic in the city produces. can be greatly reduced. This paper investigates the impact magnitude of roadside green spaces (over two years periods and during different seasons) to the modification of microclimate conditions (urban air temperature and humidity) as climate factors that most affect the comfort of life of people in the city. The results and conclusions of this paper provide useful recommendations and guidance that can be applied in the planning, design and management of roadside green spaces to adapt cities to ongoing climate change.

AB - This study was done with the aim to comparatively analyze the taxonomic and phytogeographical spectrum of lawns along the Belgrade roads. The analysis was done using the results of a floristic research done in 2001, combined with results of the field research conducted in 2019. A comparative analysis of the obtained results has shown that a lower heterogeneity of the floral elements and plant taxa was recorded in the studied lawns in 2019, when compared to the previous research period. Such a reduction in heterogeneity is the result of more intensive measures of lawn care, and of a stronger anthropogenic influence, which has led to a homogenization of the lawn flora.

AB - The paper presents the results of a chronological analysis of 85 different plant species that are constant on the grasslands of the Ibar Quay in Kraljevo. A detailed chronological analysis of the total flora of all studied grasslands has shown the presence of 17 floral elements, divided into 8 areal types and 10 areal groups. The analysis points to the dominance of plants belonging to the Eurasian floral element (47.05%), with four expansive weed species belonging to this group of floral elements: Urtica dioica L., Cichorium intybus L., Agropyrum repens L., Rubus caesius L., with two ruderal weed species Arctium lappa L. and Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop., which are undesirable in the studied lawns. The second most represented is the group of circumpolar and cosmopolitan floral elements (15.3%) and the third centraleuropean floral elements (11.7%). The presence of cosmopolitan and alien species is observed in the flora of the analyzed grasslands, which best demonstrates the anthropogenic impact and level of ruderalization. The species belonging to different floral elements and areal groups/types are present in a much smaller number. The structure of lawns of the investigated area, compared to the quay research and urban grasslands of Belgrade shows similarity and points to the necessity for more intensive maintenance and cultivation of the lawns in the investigated area.

abstract = "Na travnim površinama Ibarskog keja u Kraljevu je utvrđeno prisustvo 85 biljnih vrsta. Fitogeografska analiza travnjaka istraživanog područja ukazuje na neophodnost intenzivnijeg održavanja i negovanja istraživanih travnjaka., The paper presents the results of a chronological analysis of 85 different plant species that are constant on the grasslands of the Ibar Quay in Kraljevo. AB - The main aim of the conducted research was to determine the presence of invasive plant species in the protected natural area of the Obrenovački Zabran Nature Monument (Central Serbia). Floristic and vegetation study of the forest Obrenovački Zabran was conducted through several vegetation periods (from March 2009 to November 2013). The presence of 163 plant species recorded in the area of the Zabran Forest reflects its flora richness. Out of the total number of recorded species, 24 taxa are listed as invasive plant species, which makes 14.72% of the total flora of the Obrenovački Zabran Forest Nature Monument. Among them, there are six woody plant species and 18 herbaceous plant species. Along the whole embankment track, the species Asclepias syriaca and Amorpha fruticosa were registered with a high value of the measured parameters each. These two species create a wood edge leading down to the Sava River and suppress almost all other plants of the shrub floor, with a tendency to suppress already sparse vegetation of the ground floor. The most important environmental factors influencing the development and spreading of invasive plants in Obrenovački Zabran are light and temperature, which are most pronounced in the embankment area. Also, a strong anthropogenic influence, i.e., high frequency of users, has led to introduction and presence of invasive plant species in the area. The greatest number of determined invasive plant species belong to the family Asteraceae (nine species), then to the families Fabaceae and Poaceae (with two species each), whereas the other families had a single invasive species each. Research results should provide a basis for development of strategies for monitoring the state of unwanted species and planning measures of their reduction in order to protect the autochthonous flora. Only careful and responsible management of the natural area would maintain the abundance of these species at the current level.

AB - Urban green areas used directly for active and passive recreation, and indirectly affect the quality of the urban environment and quality of life of residents. Green areas Ibar Quay is located in the central town of Kraljevo and extending along the left bank of the river Ibar. In urban recreational areas may appear wild, planted and sown plant species. Increasingly, these areas occupy invasive and allergenic plants that have a very adverse impact on the health status of people in urban areas. The presence of invasive plants on green areas is not desirable because, in addition to the negative effects they have on human health, the negative impact on biodiversity and threatening native vegetation. The analysis of trees and shrubs and lawns of the area, it was noted the presence of allergenic and invasive plants. Was recorded, and analyzed 35 woody and herbaceous plant taxa 85. In the analyzed flora grass areas there were already 68 genera and 27 families. Of the total, 12 were invasive herbaceous plants, 2 as invasive seedlings of woody plants that can be removed by proper and regular care measures and mowing. Also is recorded 1 woody taxa in the category of invasive plants that can only be removed by mechanical means cutting trees. While 25 herbaceous plants recorded from category allergens, as well as 10 tree taxa. Studies have confirmed the inadequate maintenance of lawns, and the largest presence of invasive herbaceous weeds Cynodon dactylon L., Erigeron annuus (L.) Desf., Cichorium intybus L. and of a woody plant Ailanthus altissima Mill. The exposure of the investigated area, anthropogenic influence constitutes the essential factor to facilitate the settlement of invasive plants. Monitoring and control of the presence of invasive and allergenic plant taxa of the study area is necessary to protect the health with users, indigenous vegetation and the environmental quality of urban city space.

AB - On the green areas preschools and schools can find a variety of woody species, among which there are invasive, allergenic and toxic. Toxic woody species differ in their degree of toxicity. In the case of maturity in the human body of a toxic plants can cause minor, some major disruptions, and some can even lead to death. Toxic woody and shrub species are not desirable in the green areas of school and especially pre-school institutions. Despite numerous poisonous woody and shrub species are found in them, which can pose a serious threat to the health of children. The aim was to determine the presence of poisonous trees and shrub species on the surface of the green kindergarten 'Sunflowers' in the suburb Višnjička banja in Belgrade. The studies were conducted on the green area kindergarten 'Sunflowers' in the suburb Višnjička banja in Belgrade. Determination of trees and shrub species was determined according Vukicevic (1996), and Ocokoljić Ninić-Todorović (2003), Šilic (1990), Cvjetićanin and Perovic (2010). Toxic woody species are separated according Grlić (1984), Frohne, Pfänder (1997), Ivanić et al., (1996). The degree of toxicity was determined according to the type of Ivanić et al., (1996) and Frohne, Pfänder (1997). In relation to whether cause mild, severe or very severe fatal poisoning in case of entry into the body, ascertained poisonous species are divided into conditionally toxic, toxic, very toxic, and types that cause very serious, fatal poisoning. Depending on the size of wood, flowers, fruits and seeds can be more or less accessible to children, and for that reason the diameter of the elements carried by tree growth Banković and Pantić (2006). In the courtyard of the kindergarten 'Sunflowers' was recorded 26 tree species with 227 trees. There are also five species of bush habit, as well as two climbing plants. Of the total of 26 woody species 6 is one of those whose individual parts or the whole plant-toxic (Thuja orientalis, Laburnum anagyroides, Robinia pseudoacacia, Rhus typhina, virgilliana Quercus, Aesculus hippocastanum). Of the five species of woody bushy habit, 3 species belong to the poisonous (Taxus baccata, Prunus laurocerasus, Ligustrum vulgare). Differences were two poi- sonous climbing plants (Hedera helix, Clematis vitalba). In total there are 11 toxic species. It was noted that all poisonous species recorded in the studied area, or their toxic components in more or less accessible to children, and it is accordingly necessary caution educators, and education in terms of recognition of these species and to react in case of an incident. Toxic planting trees and shrub species in parks and other green areas is not necessary to avoid, but it is certainly not desirable to cultivate them in places such as school and pre-school yard where they were always available to children. Better knowledge of poisonous plants, with proper precautions can minimize the number of poisoning. Also, during the planning and design, except toxic, it would be desirable not to predict invasive and allergenic tree species in green areas nursery.

AB - Kopaonik Mountain is the oldest ski resort in Serbia and the most visited mountain as it has good facilities for both summer and winter outdoor recreation. Kopaonik is distinguished by a high level of biodiversity and it has been a national park since 1981. The aim of the present study is to understand the visitors' attitudes related to this area and to incorporate them with the purpose of improving the management of the natural and recreational resources of this protected area. A face to face survey was carried out in order to examine the ways, in which visitors use this area, to see if they are satisfied with the management of Kopaonik Mountain and to examine their attitudes towards the improvement of the recreational area of Kopaonik. The results show that middle-aged employers, who prevail among the tourists questioned, visit the mountain once per year (during spring or summer) and stay for 7-10 days. People mostly come from the capital city of Belgrade and visit the ski areas of Kopaonik Mountain for passive vacation and leisure activities (walking and enjoying nature). The findings indicate that some socio-demographic data such as gender and age are related to the use of the recreational areas. This case study provides some useful information and suggestions for the park managers to make improvements in the future.

AB - Mt. Kopaonik is distinguished by a high level of biodiversity. In 1981 Kopaonik is promoted into the National park within former Social Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Part of the National park is known as the oldest and the biggest ski resort in Serbia. The aim of this study was to determine key environmental factors influencing a floristic composition of a surveyed ski trails. The data set included 58 phytosociological releves recorded between 2010 and 2013. A total of 322 plant species was recorded in the analyzed ski areas of the Mt. Kopaonik taxonomically belong to 42 families and 136 genera. The main environmental gradients of species composition were analyzed by Detrended Correspondence Analysis (DCA). Ecological indicator values were used for ecological interpretation of ordination axes. The results of the DCA indicate that the main environmental gradient in the plant species composition of the ski trails was related to the moisture and nutrients. This is due to construction and the maintenance of ski slopes. The represented study gives useful information for the future maintenance of the ski slopes (primarily mowing, grazing, fertilize and overseeding) and selecting species for seed mixtures for restoration of ski slopes.

AB - Temperature and light may be considered the most important factors affecting seed germination in the presence of several other factors crucial for germination (e.g. water, oxygen, plant hormones). The present study aimed to determine temperature values and corresponding modes of light that are suitable for germination of Artemisia vulgaris L., Amaranthus retroflexus, Ambrosia artemisiifolia L., Cephalaria transsilvanica (L.) Schrader and Stellaria media (L.) Vill. under controlled conditions. Before the experiment began, the collected and dried seeds were stored in the dark, at room temperature. The seeds germinated in distilled water in glass Petri dishes. Amaranthus retroflexus, Ambrosia artemisiifolia and Artemisia vulgaris seeds were stratified before germination. The temperatures at which seed germination occurred differed for each species. The seeds germinated under light and/or in the dark. The results showed that light either failed to affect or stimulated germination. There was no statistically significant difference in the germination of Amaranthus retroflexus and Artemisia vulgaris seeds over the whole temperature range investigated, while seeds of the other investigated species had a narrower range of temperatures suitable for germination.

AB - U radu je analizirano prisustvo biljnih vrsta, invazivnih i potencijalno invazivnih biljnih vrsta u travnjacima stambenog naselja Dorćol u Beogradu.
AB - This paper analyzes the presence of plant species, invasive and potentially invasive plant species in lawns of housing Dorćol residential areas in Belgrade. In the research at seven localities of this settlement 72 plant species were recorded. Out of that number, 11 plant species (15.30%) were characterised as invasive and potentially invasive. Conducted research has shown that lawns of Dorćol residential areas are significant corridor of potential spread of present invasive plant species, according to proximity of neglected and unregulated areas of the Danube River. Care and maintenance measure applied in lawns of residential areas are at a lower level than required. This conclusion was made at the fact that in the analyzed lawns is the high presence of the plants which are not a part of seed mixture as far as the presence of invasive plant species.

This paper analyzes the presence of plant species, invasive and potentially invasive plant species in lawns of housing Dorćol residential areas in Belgrade. This conclusion was made at the fact that in the analyzed lawns is the high presence of the plants which are not a part of seed mixture as far as the presence of invasive plant species.",

AB - The systematic survey of grassland communities was performed on Mt. Stol (eastern Serbia). The main aims of the research were to: (1) determine grassland vegetation types of the researched area; (2) correlate the impacts of the soil and environmental conditions on the occurrence of certain plant communities, and (3) comment on the conservational value of the grasslands in the researched area. The data set included 60 phytosociological releves of grasslands recorded between 2001 and 2004. The main environmental gradients of species composition were analyzed by Detrended Correspondence Analysis (DCA). For the ecological interpretation of ordination axes, ecological indicator values were used. Three associations were distinguished: Danthonietum calycinae, Asperulo-Agrostietum vulgaris and Ranunculo bulbosi-Arrhenatheretum elatioris belonging to two alliances and two classes: Chrysopogono-Danthonion - Festuco-Brometea and Arrhenatherion - Molinio-Arrhenatheretea. The results of the DCA support our assumption that the main environmental gradient in the species composition of the grasslands is related to nutrients and moisture. The conservational value of grasslands in the researched area is discussed.

AB - This paper presents the results of research on the effects of prior soil preparation on artificial regeneration by mountain beech forests (Fagenion moesiacae montanum) in weed-covered plots on Juzni Kucaj Mountain. Research was conducted on the survival of one-year-old containerized seedlings in weed-covered sites where different auxiliary measures had been carried out, i.e. the following methods of soil preparation: 1) control area, with no preparation; 2) living forest ground cover (blackberry) removed; 3) living forest ground cover removed and soil tilled to a depth of 10 cm; 4) only the soil tilled. The above treatments were performed with five repetitions each for further statistical processing. Analysis of variance showed no statistically significant difference at level p lt 0.05 in initial seedling height, so that this did not considerably affect the influence of the different soil preparations on seedling growth. Half of the planted seedlings were treated with the chemical "Zeba" in order to establish and monitor its effects and needs for its use. The product has a sponge effect underground, meaning that it can absorb and retain moisture in the soil to be used later by the plants. The analysis carried out showed that only in certain elements were there statistically significant differences in one-year-old seedling height increment (annual shoot length).

AB - On the green areas of schools may appear different plant species. Some of them have invasive characteristics or possess allergenic features. Invasive species and allergens have a very negative impact on human health, especially the health of preschool and school age children, and also of adults. Accordingly the presence of these species on green areas of schools is not desirable. This paper analyzes the structure of greenery school in Obrenovac, and the presence of invasive and allergenic species. By analyzing the results, it was concluded that the mentioned species are present in significant numbers in the studied areas. The largest number of invasive herbaceous species recorded in the school yard, 'Jovan Popović', while the largest number of allergenic herbaceous species observed on the green surface of school 'Jefimija'. Invasive woody species was not present, except in the school yard 'Jovan Popovic'. The largest number of species of trees whose pollen causes severe allergic reactions recorded in school yard 'Jovan Jovanović Zmaj'.

AB - The study was carried out in Serbian spruce (Picea omorika Panc/Purkyne) plantations in the western Serbia. The paper presents results of the analysis of crown development. The following elements were analyzed: total tree height, height of the crown base, absolute and relative crown length, maximal crown diameter, coefficient of crown spreading and degree of crown girth. We discuss approaches to the modeling of tree crown growth and development, growing under favorable environmental and stand conditions, without anomalies in development. In order to establish the relationship between analyzed factors, regression analyses were applied. Data fitting was by the analytic method, by the implementation of Prodan's functions of growth, linear and parabolic function. Received models can be used for the simulation of various growth and developing processes in forest.

AB - Revegetation is the most sustainable method of soil stabilization at ski runs. In order to establish a stable plant community, it is recommended to use native species. However, non-native species are most often used. In this paper the revegetation of ski runs at two ski resorts is investigated: Divcibare and Stara Planina. Seven species were used for the revegetation of the ski run at the Divabare ski resort of which six species were native. Six species were used for the revegetation of the Stara Planina ski resort, of which two species were native. It was established that the plant species used in the seed mixtures were suitable for erosion control at the investigated ski resorts.

AB - In this paper the presence of invasive and potentially invasive plant species in lawns of roads in Belgrade, the capital city of the Republic of Serbia was analysed. The following lawn categories were selected for the purpose of analysis: the lawns of traffic roundabouts, the lane-dividing lawns, the lawns around roads and lawns around highway. Five-year research was conducted on 32 sites in Belgrade and 183 plant species were recorded. Out of that number, 18 plant species (9.84%) were characterised as invasive and potentially invasive. The presence of considerable number of invasive species within the researched lawn categories, despite the specific ambient condition, made the grassy spaces of the roads the potential centre of wider spread on the surrounding areas. Considering the fact that on the researched surfaces, cultivating and maintaining measures are occasionally applied, the number of invasive species was lower than that in the spaces not been maintained.

AB - Invasive species have a negative impact on biodiversity threatening the survival of native vegetation. Globally, it is considered as the second greatest threat to biodiversity (immediately after destruction of natural habitats). Their presence can also cause a serious threat to the health of human (allergic reaction), which makes them unwanted in urban parks, which is oasis in urban space. In this paper the presence of invasive and potentially invasive plant species in lawns of parks in Belgrade has been analyzed. Research was completed in 10 parks and 196 plant species are found. Out of that number, 23 plant species (12.5%) were characterized as invasive and potentially invasive. Percentage of invasive species distribution in parks ranged within limit values of (5.08% - 17.39 %). The highest distribution of invasive species, compared to total number of species, was recorded in lawns of park Manjež (17.39 %). Completed studies have shown that in each park at least at one site noted the existence of invasive species, which could potentially undermine the quality of the whole assembly. It was also observed uneven maintenance of a park unit, thus causing primarily decorative, the visual appearance of the park. Research the presence of invasive species must be carried out continuously, in order to take adequate measures that would contribute to reducing their number and spread.

AB - Danger to the public health through exposure to toxic arsenic compounds in drinking water remains a continuing problem. Because people may be inadvertently exposed to arsenic through contaminated drinking water, it is extremely important to monitor arsenic level and to remove it from sites where arsenic could contaminate groundwater. We measured total (both inorganic and organic) arsenic content in groundwater and drinking water at various sites in the West Backa district of Serbia. In 42 of 69 samples of water drawn from tube wells in the west Backa district of Serbia, we found the total arsenic concentration to be well above the current maximum contaminant level of 10 parts per billion (ppb or mu g/L) for drinking water. Thirteen of these wells had water with arsenic concentrations above 50 mu g/L. The highest arsenic content (148 mu g/L) was found at one location. Consequently, nearly half of population in this district is potentially at risk of arsenic poisoning. Water from tube wells from 45-60 m deep had arsenic concentrations of less than 25 mu g/L. Water from deeper wells had greater variation (0-148 mu g/mL) in arsenic concentrations. These variations in natural underground waters relate to the hydro-geologic properties in this part of the Pannonian plain. We concluded that the depth of a tube well in this district offers a rough prediction of arsenic contamination, but only for wells no deeper than 60 m. Association of increased arsenic concentration in drinking water and epidemiology of certain diseases should be studied in this area.

AB - The regionalization of forest tree populations was researched on an example of beech, as the species with the largest range and the widest ecological amplitude in Serbia. The implementation of Monmonier's algorithm of maximum differences to analyze the spatial distances and the matrix of genetic distances generated by RAPD markers produced different results, depending on the method of addressing the genetic distances, so that data processing should be planned in accordance with the number of samples and their geographic location. The analysis is simple and enables a good visualization of genetic variability barriers which, in combination with the data on the distribution and the geographic barriers, can be utilized for recommending the transfer of forest tree reproductive material.

Na osnovu značajnosti i primene koju imaju u pejzažnoj arhitekturi i hortikulturi odabrane su sledeće aromatične vrste: majčina dušica (Thymus serpyllum L.), timijan (Thymus vulgaris L.), žalfija (Salvia officinalis L.), muskatna žalfija (Salvia sclarea L.), bela očajnica (Marrubium incanum L.), matičnjak (Melissa officinalis L.), miloduh (Hyssopus officinalis L.) i vranilovka (Origanum vulgare L.).
AB - In this paper the results of the research of some parametars of seed quality of eight aromatic plant species from family Lamiaceae are presented. The germination energy and total germination were observed. The research was conducted in a germination cabinet at the Institute for Medicinal Plant Research 'Dr Josif Pančić' from Belgrade. Eight plant species were studied. Based on the significance and use in landscape architecture and horticulture, following species were selected: creeping thyme (Thymus serpyllum L.), thyme (Thymus vulgaris L.), sage (Salvia officinalis L.), clary sage (Salvia sclarea L.),silver horehound (Marrubium incanum L.), lemon balm (Melissa officinalis L.), hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis L.) and oregano (Origanum vulgare L.). For each species, testing was done in the four - replicate trial with 100 seeds in repetition. Testing temperature was constantly 20°C, with the light-dark regime 12-12 hours. Germination energy was determined after seven days and total germination after fifteen. According to the analysis of variance, significant differences in seed germination of the studied eight aromatic plant species were recorded. The greatest germination energy and total germination were registered with thyme and lemon balm, while silver horehound and oregano obtained the lowest values. Germination energy and total germination of other studied species are within the limits that comply with standards.

Kod ostalih vrsta koje su bile predmet istraživanja vrednosti oba parametra se nalaze u okvirima standarda., In this paper the results of the research of some parametars of seed quality of eight aromatic plant species from family Lamiaceae are presented. Germination energy and total germination of other studied species are within the limits that comply with standards.",

AB - In this paper the presence of invasive and potentially invasive plant species in lawns of residential areas in Belgrade has been analyzed. Five-year research was conducted in 10 residental areas in Belgrade and 196 plant species recorded. Out of that number, 21 plant species (10.71%) were characterised as invasive and potentially invasive. Percentage of invasive species distribution in residential areas ranged within limit values of 11.5-14.3%. The highest distribution of invasive species, compared to total number of species, was recorded in lawns of residential areas Karaburma, Mirijevo and Železnik (14.28%), whereas grass spaces of residential areas Banjica and Medaković III were characterized by lowest presence of invasive species (11.54%). Conducted research has shown that lawns of residential areas are important corridors of potential spread of present invasive plant species, according to which a conclusion could be made that care and maintenance measure applied in lawns in residential areas is at a lower level than required.
