AB  - The paper presents the research of differences in quantitative and value yields, and structure of sawn timber and residues, whose appearance is caused by different methods of sawing beech logs with red heartwood. In order to achieve the goal, 45 logs were divided into three even groups and sawn into commercial timber using three methods: round, cant and live sawing. Similar quantitative yields were found for round sawing and cant sawing (60.63 % and 60.52 %, respectively), while a lower result of 56.79 % was observed for live sawing. Less timber ( edged and red heartwood boards) and smaller products were found in live sawing than in other two methods, meaning that live sawing resulted in a lower value yield.

Osnovna fizička svojstva drveta smrče (Picea abies Karst) iz kultura

AB  - U radu su prikazani rezultati ispitivanja osnovnih fizičkih svojstava smrčevog drveta iz kultura u okolini Banja Luke. Ispitivani su: zavisnost širine prstena prirasta i gustine drveta, gustina, zapreminska poroznost utezanje, tačka zasićenosti vlakanaca i apsorpcija vlage. Analizirano su tri stabla, prosečne starosti oko 16 godina. Statistički su obrađeni podaci za prsnu visinu i ukupno za sve epruvete, od prsne visine do 9,3 m. Ispitivanjem i analizom osnovnih fizičkih svojstava smrčevog drveta iz kultura dobijeno je da je uticaj širine prstena prirasta na gustinu negativan i da je ta zavisnost logaritamska, potvrđujući ranije rezultate. Prosečna vrednost gustine drveta je manja od uobičajne vrednosti koju nalazimo u literaturi. Prosečna vrednost radijalnog utezanja iznosi 3,90%, a tangencijalnog 8,10%. Ova istraživanja potvrđuju da postoji linearna zavisnost između nominalne gustine i zapreminskog utezanja drveta smrče i da gustina negativno utiče na faktor površinske anizotropije. Na prsnoj visini, prosečna vrednost faktora površinske anizotropije iznosi 2,16, zapreminska poroznost 72%, a TZV 32,6%. Prosečna brzina apsorpcije iznosi 3,42% po danu, za prvih 7 dana, a za poslednjih 30 dana 0,12% po danu. Izvršeno je i poređenje rezultata ispitivanja sa rezultatima drugih autora.
AB  - The basic physical properties of spruce wood from plantations in the surroundings of Banja Luka were researched. The dependence of growth ring diameter and wood density, density, volume porosity, shrinkage, fibre saturation point and absorption of moisture were analysed on three trees average age about 16 years. The data for breast height and for all specimens from breast height to 9.3 m were statistically processed. The research and analysis of the basic physical properties of plantation-grown spruce wood shows that the effect of growth ring diameter on the density is negative and that the dependence is logarithmic, which confirms the previous results. Average value of wood density is lower than the usual value reported in references. Average value of radial shrinkage is 3.90%, and tangential 8.10%. This research confirms the linear dependence between the nominal density and volumetric shrinkage of spruce wood and that density has a negative effect on the coefficient of surface anisotropy. At breast height, average value of the coefficient of surface anisotropy is 2.16, volume porosity 72%, and fibre saturation point 32.6%. Average rate of absorption is 3.42% per day, for the first 7 days, and 0.12% per day for the last 30 days. The study results were compared to the results reported by other authors.

AB  - The effect of moisture and temperature on beechwood static MOE, MOR and stress at proportional limit in bending was tested. The experiment was performed at wood moisture contents of 0, 10, 17 and 24 %. and maximum MC, and at temperatures of 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 degrees C, in radial and tangential directions. The highest MOE, (12880 MPa) was measured for oven-dry wood in radial direction. MOE decreased with the increase in wood moisture and temperature by about 4 times. It was proved that MOE was in functional linear correlation with wood hygroscopic moisture and the temperature of moist wood. MOE did not change with moisture above the hygroscopicity limit or with temperature when the wood was dry. The increase of moisture within the hygroscopic range by 1 % caused the decrease in MOE by 1.3 to 3.3 %, depending on temperature and anatomic direction, while the temperature increase by 1 degrees C caused the decrease of MOE by 0.2 to 0.6 %, depending on wood moisture. Oven-dry beechwood MOR is 150 to 160 MPa. MOR decreased with the increase of hygroscopic moisture by the exponential law, while the effect of temperature was linear. The increase of moisture in the hygroscopic range by 1 % caused the decrease of MOR by 2.1 to 7.1 %, and the increase of temperature by 1 degrees C caused its decrease by 0.4 to 0.6 %, for both anatomic directions. The stress at proportional limit ranged between 42 and 70 % of the value of MOR, and the effect of moisture and temperature on its change was generally synchronic with their effect on MOR.

AB  - U radu su prikazani rezultati ispitivanja gustine i promene dimenzija bukovog drveta sa lokaliteta Bor - Boljevac. Analizirana su četiri stabla sa različitih izdvojenih i postavljenih serija naučno-proizvodnih ogleda u okviru gazdinskih jedinica. Rezultati su prikazani i statistički obrađeni za podatke dobijene na 1, 3 m visine, a izvršena je i analiza za podatke sa tri visinska nivoa duž tehnički čistog dela debla. Rezultati ispitivanja pokazuju da postoji razlika u nekim svojstvima između stabala, a takođe i u okviru stabala. Upoređeni su i ostali rezultati sa ostalih lokaliteta u Srbiji. Oni su prilog analizi i proizvodnji drveta sa ovog prostora.

Four trees were analyzed from different selected and established series of scientific and production experiments in the management units. The results were presented and statistically processed for the data measured at the height of 1. 3 m, and also for the data at three height levels along the technically valuable part of the stem. The study results show the difference between the trees and also within the same tree The study results were compared to the results from other localities in Serbia. They should contribute to the analysis and production of wood in this region.

AB  - U radu su saopšteni rezultati ispitivanja gustine, utezanja i bubrenja drveta Paulownia elongata i P. fortuneii. Materijal za ispitivanje obezbedio je inž. Boda Vukovojac, koji je podigao plantažu i ogledna polja paulovnije na teritoriji opštine Bela Crkva. Rezultati ispitivanja pokazuju da postoji razlika između ispitivanih svojstava ove dve vrste drveta. Izvršeno je poređenje dobijenih rezultata ispitivanja međusobno i sa rezultatima sličnih vrsta drveta. Dobijeni podaci ukazuju na mogućnost korišćenja ovog drveta u proizvodima od drveta koji nisu u toku eksploatacije izloženi velikim opterećenjima. Potrebno je izvršiti ispitivanje sklonosti ovih vrsta drveta prema formiranju tenzionog drveta i deformacijama u uslovima promenljive higroskopne vlage.
AB  - The density, shrinkage and swelling of Paulownia elongata and P. fortuneii wood were researched. The study material was provided by Boda Vukovojac, B. Sc., who established the Paulownia plantation and sample plots on the territory of the Municipality Bela Crkva. The study results show the differences between the analyzed properties of these two species. The study results were also compared with the results of the similar species of wood. The data shows that the study wood can be used in wood products that are not subject to great loads during exploitation. Further study should investigate the liability of these wood species to form tension wood and deformations in the conditions of variable hygroscopic moisture.
