The raspberry has become a profitable fruit species in the western area of Serbia. By studying the soil in western Serbia, areas have been identified which are suitable for the successful cultivation of raspberries. In the municipality of Ljubovija, based on soil analysis, a 833.04 ha plot for growing raspberries has been established. In recent years the raspberry has played a great role in the local economy. Economic analysis has confirmed the large economic benefits of growing this fruit. Additionally, a Cost/ Benefit analysis has shown the positive effect of raspberry production (1.634). The municipality predicts great social prosperity in the future, and the raspberry has a major role to play in this.
