Architectural acoustics can be defined as a acoustic quality of buildings. Sound insulation is part of the general building quality and is based on human hearing mechanism and purpose of space. In accordance with the results of acoustical measurements, sound insulation is achieved by designing appropriate geometry of a room and appropriate building materialization in which wood has important role. Wood and wood-based materials are widely used in interior architecture and this paper is concerned with the role of wood and wood-based products from the point of the acoustical project in interior design. Elements of sound insulation based on wood and their effectiveness are analyzed and shown through conclusions and recommendations for architects from the point of designing space, construction elements, windows, doors, floor coverings, walls and ceilings.en
