AB - Vojvodina is one of the five regions in Serbia, with a population of around 1.9 million residents. By this indicator, Vojvodina is the second-largest region in Serbia. However, with approximately 0.7 million active households, Vojvodina leads the regions in Serbia. Despite the fact that the forest cover in this region is only 7.97%, and gasification has been implemented in many populated areas, close to 40% of households in this region still use wood as a heating fuel. This makes this region interesting for research regarding wood fuel consumption. The results of the conducted research have shown that the consumption of firewood in 2021 amounted to 1.62 million cubic meters, and wood pellets were around 52 thousand tons. The average firewood consumption per household in urban areas was 6.3 cubic meters, while in rural areas, it was 6.9 cubic meters. Translated into energy efficiency parameters, the average consumption of wood energy per 1 square meter of the heated area in urban areas was 199 kWh, and in rural areas, it was 214.5 kWh. The consumption of wood energy in the households measured in kWh/m(2) of the heated area is not satisfactory in this region. Its values are beyond the values of the last class of the energy passport for residential buildings [G class gt 188 kWh/m(2) (a)].

AB - This paper contains the research results on wood energy consumption in the region of Eastern Serbia during the heating season 2020/2021. The aim of the research was to collect data on the types, amounts, and values of wood fuels being consumed in this region in Serbia, as well as GHG emissions from their combustion. Based on the conducted research, the following results were obtained: total consumption of wood fuels for energy purposes in Eastern Serbia in heating season 2020/2021 was the following: firewood 1.07 million m(3); wood pellets 34,419 tonnes, wood chips 2,205 tonnes, wood briquettes 127 tonnes and sawdust 13,203 tonnes. The average consumption of wood energy per 1m(2) of heating surface in households in Eastern Serbia amounts to 232.6 kWh/m(2) (a) in urban households and 242.9 kWh/m(2) (a) in other households. Such high values of the wood energy consumption are unsatisfactory because they are beyond the values of the last class of the energy passport for residential buildings [G class gt 188 kWh/m(2) (a)].Total CO2 emissions from the wood fuels combustion in Eastern Serbia during the heating season 2020/2021 are estimated to be 1.3 million tonnes.

AB - center dot This paper deals with the operational efficiency of companies engaged in the production of wooden chairs using selected statistical and DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) methods. Indicators that typically characterise the supply chain in the production of selected companies were taken as input and output variables for the DEA method. They included three input variables: inventories, material costs and production services costs and one output variable: company's net profit. The obtained coefficients of correlation pointed to a high degree of correlation between the variables, which justified the performance of an efficiency analysis using the DEA method. The study included 12 companies engaged in the production of wooden chairs. The results of the conducted analyses show that only one company had a relatively satisfactory operational efficiency (efficiency coefficient of 0.83) for the nine-year period. All other companies, especially micro and small enterprises, had unsatisfactorily low operational efficiency. Micro enterprises had the lowest operational efficiency, with an efficiency coefficient of only 0.14. Small enterprises reached the value of 0.3, and large companies 0.67. Medium companies had the most favourable efficiency coefficient of up to 0.83.

AB - The furniture industry is one of the strategic industries in Serbia, with about 30,000 employees. The subject of research in this paper was the furniture market in three selected regions in Serbia with the aim to consider the influence of certain factors on the demand for furniture during the COVID-19 pandemic, as follows: prices, quality, payment terms, brands, promotions, terms of purchase, frequency of furniture purchase, assortment, and online shopping. The methods used for the research included field research, surveys and analysis of the obtained data. The sample size included 210 respondents who were selected by random sampling method. When it comes to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, research shows that it did not significantly influence consumers' decision to buy furniture. Preference is given to domestic producers, both because of the availability of products and because of the more affordable price. When it comes to quality of furniture, the research showed that the 63% are satisfied with the ratio of price and quality, as well as the range offered on the market. The terms of payment are satisfactory, with the 58% customers opting for cash payments. On the other hand, the choice of the manufacturer is based on previous positive experience or recommendation, while going to the salon is the choice of 92% customers, compared to online shopping (8%). The conducted research is important for producers, distributors, and traders of furniture, as well as for the academic community because, for the first time, research was conducted on this topic in Serbia.

The main goal of this paper is to present the results of research on the impact of errors that occur in the production planning phase on the productivity of wood floor production. The purpose of this paper arise from the need to point out to companies in the wood industry the importance of the impact of production planning on achieving a high level of its productivity. In order to determine the dependence of productivity on the impact of errors in the production planning phase, statistical modeling was performed, using correlation and regression analysis. The results of the conducted research indicate a significant impact of errors in the production planning phase on productivity, which is one of the most important indicators of production efficiency. This is confirmed by the negative value of the correlation coefficient between the length of production interruptions caused by errors in the planning phase, and production productivity.

AB - Selected South-Eastern European countries (SEEC - Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia) represent significant producers and exporters of wood flooring in Europe. In 2018, 9.4 % of Europe's wood flooring production originated from this region. The region is a net exporter of wood flooring since it exports over 50 % of total production. The most important market for the export of wood flooring is the European Union with a share of over 60 % in total exports. Trends in this market are important for manufacturers and exporters from the region. Therefore, the analysis of the impact of the European Union imports on wood flooring production in the SEEC was conducted by application of econometric modelling. The parameters of the obtained model show that the increase of approximately 0.75 % could be expected in the production of wood flooring in selected South-Eastern European countries for each precentral increase in the European Union imports. In addition to these results, the paper presents the analysis of the competitiveness of wood flooring export from the region measured by the Competitiveness Growth Index (RCA1). The aim of this analysis was to quantify the level of their price and non-price competitiveness in the European Union market. Conducted analyses show that the Competitiveness Growth Index (RCA1) had positive values (higher than one) for most significant countries from the SEEC for most of the observed period.

AB - This research subject of this paper is wood industry companies in the Republic of Serbia and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their business operations. The research was aimed to determine the effects of the OVID-19 pandemic on the production process, production volume, business results, and business plans. The study comprised the time from mid-March to early October 2020 or the time of the pandemic crisis. The companies were classified by size. The criterion was the number of employees. Research results indicate that COVID-19 greatly affected micro and small companies in the wood industry of Serbia. During the pandemic, the production was brought to a halt in 43.75% of the companies belonging to this group. The percentage of middle and large companies that halted production was 18.75 [%]. The essential problem of micro and small companies during the COVID-19 pandemic was to collect payments for delivered goods. On the other hand, middle and large companies were mainly faced with the disruption in the supply of necessary raw and production materials.

AB - The research subject in this paper is Business Information Systems (BIS) used in wood industry companies of the Republic of Serbia. The main objective of this paper is to research the impact of BIS application in various production and business management processes in wood industry companies of the Republic of Serbia. An additional objective is to determine production and business management processes that are the most improved by BIS application in the companies where the research was conducted. This paper aims to imply to these companies the advantages of BIS application in production and business management, as well as the business improvement that can be achieved by their application. The research was conducted on a sample of the 100 largest companies in the wood industry of the Republic of Serbia, according to the criterion business income in the year 2016. The research results show that BIS application in wood industry companies has the most significant positive impact on the inventory management process. Of the total number of surveyed companies, the most significant number of companies considers that the BIS application has a large positive impact on this management process. Also, many companies consider that the implementation of BIS has an enormously positive impact on the financial management process. Increasing the efficiency of the inventory and financial management process contributes in reducing the number of days of working capital in the stock of reproductive material, reducing the level of debts, as well as increasing liquidity and efficiency of capital management.

AB - It can be said that Integrated Information Systems (IIS) are a fundamental operating tool in modern business systems and form the basis of successful company management. The goal of our research was to determine the IT level of business operations in Croatian wood processing industry and to assess how significant it has been in enhancing its business performance. A survey method was used to collect data, which resulted in gathering predominantly small and medium-sized companies. Our results indicate an average use of IIS modalities among surveyed companies. Using cluster analysis, three types of companies were identified with respect to the degree of system implementation. Analysis of financial benefits of the IIS implementation did not find any statistically significant relationship. However, subjective impressions on non-financial indicators show that companies in all three clusters see the greatest benefit of IIS in the improved inventory efficiency and sales efficiency.

AB - This paper presents the influence analysis of different dimensions and parquet class quality on the production productivity in the selected company. The need of determination which parquet dimension and quality class present in the selected company has the largest influence on productivity initiated this kind of research. The research was conducted using the correlation and regression analysis, as the main statistical tools. The results of the correlation analysis point out that the largest degree of correlation between productivity, parquet quality class and dimension registered the R (rustic) quality class and the dimension of parquet 400 x 62 mm. Based on the results obtained by the correlation analysis, regression analysis was performed to observe the influence of R class of parquet quality and dimension 400 x 62 mm on total productivity in the selected company.

abstract = "This paper presents the influence analysis of different dimensions and parquet class quality on the production productivity in the selected company. Based on the results obtained by the correlation analysis, regression analysis was performed to observe the influence of R class of parquet quality and dimension 400 x 62 mm on total productivity in the selected company.",

AB - This paper presents the research results of the efficiency of firewood consumption in the households in Gornji Milanovac. Gomji Milanovac was selected for the research due to the fact that it is one of the most forested municipalities in Serbia and almost 95% of its households use firewood for heating purposes. The appropriate methodological concept with scientific research methods and techniques was defined for the purposes of the research. The main research technique was field survey for the purpose of which the appropriate sample of urban and rural households was defined. After the survey had been conducted, a logical check of the collected data was performed. The next step in the selected methodological concept was the econometric modelling of the effects of the heated surface area on firewood consumption using 'STATISTICA' V.7.0 software package. The results of the study showed that the average consumption of firewood per square meter of heated surface area in the heating season of 2017/2018 was 0.120 m(3) in the households that used wet wood, 0.110 m(3) in the households that used air dried wood and 0.097 m(3) in the households that used dry wood. Compared to the reference value taken as relatively satisfactory by the criteria of energy efficiency, the consumption of wood in all three categories of households was on average 2.2 times higher. Such high consumption of wood energy is, among other things, due to the unsatisfactory condition of the buildings regarding their age, high percentage of buildings without thermal insulation and the dominant participation of heating devices older than 10 years.

In order to use automated machines, it is necessary to apply the technology which will distribute all information that are necessary for performing operations on the machines in the right time and in the right form. One of the most commonly used technologies to distribute and convert information between the information system and automated machine is the bar-code technology. In this paper, the significance of bar-code technology for the operation of the automated machines is presented, using the case study of the company for production of wood-based panel furniture. Additionally, the ability of using bar-code technology in the performance of other activities of the company is also presented. The aim of this paper is to present how the application of the bar-code technology facilitates production management in the company for the production of wood-based panel furniture by speeding up the performance of the operations in the company.

AB - This paper presents the results of the study of the influence of the selected
factors on the productivity of the processing of beech logs on the example
of the selected producer of sawn timber in Serbia by applying statistical
modeling. The analysis covered three basic factors that have an impact on
productivity: the length, middle diameter and number of cuts on the logs of
beech that were processed during the observed period. The research was
carried out on a sample of 105 logs, and it contained various sizes of
middle diameters, lengths and number of cuts. The research aimed to review
the functional dependence of selected factors and productivity in order to
reach appropriate conclusions, provide expert recommendations and measures
to increase productivity and make appropriate forecasts of possible
productivity values. In order to examine the functional dependence of the
selected variables, statistical modeling was performed in SPSS, v.20 and MS
Excel software packages, where the selected dependent variable is the number
of logs processed in one hour, and as an independent variable the volume was
taken into consideration (which contains the middle diameter and the length
of the logs) and the number of cuts. Statistically obtained parameters
showed a significant influence of the volume and number of cuts on the
change of the number of logs which are processed in one hour. In the
obtained regression model the correlation coefficient R is 0.994, while the
coefficient of determination R2 = 0.988. Since in sawmill processing
productivity is most often expressed as the volume of processed logs in the
unit of time, a transformed form of the equation shows the dependence of the
volume on the number of logs and the number of cuts. By setting the
hypothesis and by interpreting the statistical indicators, it has been found
that the impact of the analyzed factors is very high, but that, in addition
to them, productivity is influenced by technical and organizational factors.

AB - The paper shows research results for the consumption of all types of wood fuels in the households in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its entities in 2015. The research was conducted in the period from March 15th to August 26th, 2016 in 109 cities/municipalities in the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina. Complex methodological approach was used for conducting the research, which required field research on the sample of 8,602 households on the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as adequate statistical processing of the obtained data pursuant to the high statistical standards. Research results show that in 2015, 5.4 million m(3) offirewood, 81,656 tones of wood pellets, and 6,780 tones of wood briquettes were consumed in the households in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Total expenses of households necessary for the supply of wood fuels in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2015 were 239.8 M(sic), with the largest share offirewood (2268 M(sic)), followed by wood pellets (11.6 M(sic)), and wood briquettes (720.9 thousand (sic)). Average firewood consumption per household in Bosnia and Herzegovina is 643 m(3). Compared to the surrounding countries it is on the level of Slovenia (6.5 m(3) per household), less than in Serbia (7.3 m(3) per household) and more than in Montenegro (5.49 m(3) per household). Average consumption of energy from firewood expressed in kWh/m(2) of the heated surface was 252.7 kWh, which is significantly higher than the average in the EU. One of the reasons for such high consumption of wood energy per 1 m(2) of the heated surface is the fact that only 36.1% of the households using solid fuels have thermal insulation on their residential facilities.

AB - The paper shows research results for the woody biomass potentials for energy, their actual utilization, consumption of wood energy and its contribution to achieve the national target for Serbia 2020. Research results show that in 2015 total technical potentials of woody biomass for energy in Serbia amount to 7.97 million m(3) meeting the criteria of their sustainable use out of which 4.7 million m(3) or 59% is the estimated stemwood potential. Consumption side of woody biomass for energy shows its consumption in the amount of 7.5 million m(3), which gives positive difference of 469 thousand m(3) annually compared to possible potentials. Small difference between technically available potentials and their present utilization indicates the fact that the level of using the existing woody biomass potentials in Serbia is on the upper limit of its sustainable use. Therefore, further investments in the area of wood energy production should be planned carefully. Regarding the contribution of wood energy to final energy consumption (385,315 TJ) in Serbia in 2015, it was 61,042 TJ or 15.8 percent.
