AB - This paper present analyzes the research results of business information systems (BIS) application in the wood industry companies in the Republic of Serbia. The main objective of this paper is to research the reasons for BIS application in the business of these companies. An additional objective is to determine the criteria for BIS introduction and selection in their company. Also, some of the additional objectives are to determine the introduction of the BIS strategy and analyze what software companies use. This paper aims to imply to wood industry companies the most popular way of BIS introduction and indicate to most popular software in the Serbian wood industry. The research results show that the largest number is decided for the Frontal introduction of BIS. Also, research results indicate that most number companies are deciding on Custom software development Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and Pantheon.

AB - The subject of research in this paper is the impact of production planning, as the first phase of production management, on productivity in a company for the production of wooden floors. The main goal of this paper is to present the results of research on the impact of errors that occur in the production planning phase on the productivity of wood floor production. The purpose of this paper arise from the need to point out to companies in the wood industry the importance of the impact of production planning on achieving a high level of its productivity. In order to determine the dependence of productivity on the impact of errors in the production planning phase, statistical modeling was performed, using correlation and regression analysis. The results of the conducted research indicate a significant impact of errors in the production planning phase on productivity, which is one of the most important indicators of production efficiency. This is confirmed by the negative value of the correlation coefficient between the length of production interruptions caused by errors in the planning phase, and production productivity.

AB - The research subject in this paper is Business Information Systems (BIS) used in wood industry companies of the Republic of Serbia. The main objective of this paper is to research the impact of BIS application in various production and business management processes in wood industry companies of the Republic of Serbia. An additional objective is to determine production and business management processes that are the most improved by BIS application in the companies where the research was conducted. This paper aims to imply to these companies the advantages of BIS application in production and business management, as well as the business improvement that can be achieved by their application. The research was conducted on a sample of the 100 largest companies in the wood industry of the Republic of Serbia, according to the criterion business income in the year 2016. The research results show that BIS application in wood industry companies has the most significant positive impact on the inventory management process. Of the total number of surveyed companies, the most significant number of companies considers that the BIS application has a large positive impact on this management process. Also, many companies consider that the implementation of BIS has an enormously positive impact on the financial management process. Increasing the efficiency of the inventory and financial management process contributes in reducing the number of days of working capital in the stock of reproductive material, reducing the level of debts, as well as increasing liquidity and efficiency of capital management.

AB - The use of automated machines that have large capacities and large grade of flexibility represent one of the preconditions to the companies for furniture production in Serbia to respond to high demands of the market. In order to use automated machines, it is necessary to apply the technology which will distribute all information that are necessary for performing operations on the machines in the right time and in the right form. One of the most commonly used technologies to distribute and convert information between the information system and automated machine is the bar-code technology. In this paper, the significance of bar-code technology for the operation of the automated machines is presented, using the case study of the company for production of wood-based panel furniture. Additionally, the ability of using bar-code technology in the performance of other activities of the company is also presented. The aim of this paper is to present how the application of the bar-code technology facilitates production management in the company for the production of wood-based panel furniture by speeding up the performance of the operations in the company.
